At Night Owl Technologies, our team is multilingual and we have employees with multiple advanced degrees and to many certifications to count including in Wi-Fi, IOT, hacking (OSCP). The Night Owl Difference is that we are both academic and applied with our skillset as we are comfortable behind a keyboard, soldering iron or in the midst of a pile of equipment. Salary is so much more than an annual rate. For starters, we don't really offer an annual rate because it is a disadvantage to employees, for that reason we figure out an hourly rate and every hour worked is every hour paid. Secondly, depending on the benefit options an employee elects, this will coincide with adjustments to their hourly rate as it's all up to the employee.
We offer flexibility in both schedule and location as negotiated with our customer point of contacts. It would be very unique for an employee to work a Monday to Friday 9-to-5 schedule as a Night Owl sitting behind a desk, unless that is what is preferred. A typical day is often researching, designing, testing and integrating complex systems and attending one or two weekly meetings providing their expert level assessment on project status. Our work is expected to be very dynamic and answering the surge driven needs of the customer. Our vacation and work life balance is the same.
We understand how difficult and frustrating it can be to handle health care challenges. It's for this reason, and based on our and friends and family experiences that we only offer Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, if the employee elects to have company provided healthcare. We do not, and will not offer any plans from United Healthcare or their derivatives under any circumstances.
Our 401k provider is Guideline, and we work with employees to build a 401k plan with an employer contribution based on desired hourly rate and afford the employee to control their own contributions yearly.
We probably attend more conferences and training per employee than any other company like us. We do this to maintain our expertise qualifications and bonafides. Attendance is usually on the time of the employee, but in many cases we can often charge our clients by providing an out briefing and keeping the rest of the project team up to date. In cases where we can't get client support for hours, we ask employees to take this time to invest in themselves and provide the same outbrief and one note document for enriching the companies knowledge base. We cover certifications, annual dues and advanced degrees as planned and budgeted with your manager. Additionally, we insist on an annual try something new approach covered in our culture section.
